A medium random exposure finish is a patchy exposure of the concrete aggregate, to create a salt-and-pepper look, suitable for indoor living. Random exposure is a beautiful finish, that takes the unique characteristics of the slab, such as visible screed marks, to add personality to any space.
The finish is slab-dependent, and it starts with having the slab poured as evenly as possible, and have a burnished finish. This is normally done by a professional concrete using a powered trowel, and the concreter must be careful to eliminate any foot or screed marks.
We then grind enough of the top-most layer, approximately 1-to-3mm, depending on the quality of the slab. If the slab was poured inconsistently, or there are anomalies, then we may need to grind more, leaving a result with more aggregate exposed.
