The matte finish is a popular option for the natural look finish, which can be applied to newly poured concrete floors, and existing concrete floors. This finish can be applied to existing and newly poured slabs.
If you are having new concrete poured, you can ask for nil/minimal stone exposure grind and seal, or a mechanically polished concrete in matte finish. These processes involve doing the least amount of concrete grinding possible, so that there is little-to-no stone showing through the surface.
A matte finish is one of the most difficult finishes to achieve, because it is entirely dependent on the slab or floor being poured to a perfect slab.
If you have an existing slab, the natural look can be achieved by doing a feather finish floor. This finish will cover up the existing surface completely, so any damage or staining in the floors will no longer be visible. If you do not like the feather finish look, you can ask for a minimal/random stone exposure grind-and-seal or mechanically polished concrete in a matte finish.
